coffee commissary

a poppy pink LA favorite for coffee

LA has no shortage of darling coffee shop franchises, and yet somehow we have room to accommodate them all, and an insatiable demand for more. Coffee Commissary has locations scattered throughout the city, extending from the west side to the valley, and yet every single one is usually full on a given afternoon. The pops of pink, quirky details and frankly questionable brush font all somehow add up to a solid coffee hang.

Coffee Commissary is a reliable choice for a place to get some work done, and you’ll generally be in good company. Each location has a different vibe reflective of the neighborhood and crowd. Some are great for meetings, others for a working lunch. All are good for a stop by coffee for the road.

good to know

Go here for: coffee, breakfast, a meeting, work session

Order this: a cubano and a breakfast burrito

Amount of time to spend: perfect for a drive by or a few hours plugged in

When to come: whenever you need a pick me up

Parking: varies by location. Fairfax has a structure with limited free parking. Burbank has a few spaces out back. Glendale and Palms locations are residential enough for easy street parking (metered and free). Other locations can be a bit dicey given the neighborhoods.

Other things to note:

  • Not all locations serve food, and offerings vary.
  • Most locations are decent for working, with wifi and outlets available, but some locations have limited seating.
  • They also have a food truck usually parked on Fairfax but also available for events.
