屋莎洋食鬆餅屋

a homegrown cutie japanese cafe for cutie japanese pancakes

Taiwan has a lot of Japanese restaurants and cafes. A lot of afternoon tea cafes that serve food and desserts and coffee and tea for a sit down break between meals. Taiwan has a lot of things in the intersection of these two beloved genres. Many are imported from Japan. Woosa, though the branding may have you believing otherwise, is not. Woosa is a Taiwanese cafe chain that specializes in Japanese style western food, Japanese style souffle pancakes. It emerged into the Taiwan cafe scene just a few years ago and has quickly grown a footprint that extends from Taipei to Kaohsiung.

In terms of format, Woosa is pretty typical for a mid-level casual restaurant. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the staff polite and efficient. The space filled with tables but not too cramped. The menu sectioned off from appetizers and snacks to savory entrees (mostly in the Japanese western food genre) to sweet treats (in this case primarily souffle pancakes), and a selection of coffee and tea and fruity drinks that straddle the line between Asian and Western inspiration. All in all, it’s a reliable and comfortable spot for a casual meal or “afternoon tea” break.
