porridge + puffs

the name says it all

Porridge + Puffs is a cozy, farm-to-table restaurant in Historic Filipinotown that serves up a modern twist on Asian-ish comfort foods. Namely, savory porridges and sweet puffs. Since opening in 2018, the restaurant has become a destination, bringing in more traffic to the otherwise fairly residential and local neighborhood (despite being a stone’s throw from Silver Lake and Echo Park).

Inside, the space is neutral and airy, with high ceilings and a long communal table extending down the center of the restaurant. The menu changes seasonally, featuring plant-based bites, savory and beautifully garnished porridges, and creative internationally-inspired desserts that range from cardamom sugar puffs to brown butter mochi to seasonal pavlova. Porridge + Puffs feels like more than a restaurant, but a constantly evolving experiment, a taste of the creative process, a community space inspired by modern LA.
