There’s something so satisfying about a place that is open 24 hours a day. Like, in reality, would you really need donuts at 3am? Probably not. But it still feels nice that you could get them if you wanted. And for our friends on the west side, DK’s delivers on that satisfaction.
DK’s Donuts is a special place for many reasons. It’s been family-owned since 1980, established by Khmer refugees and now run by their grown children. While it has been updated and rebranded by the second generation, the essence of the mom & pop shop remains the same and continues to draw in more and more donut lovers, expanding their consumer base in the age of social media. No matter what hour you visit, the counter cases are filled to the brim with dozens of options. The variety spans traditional to creative, with several ube-flavored options, their own take on cronuts, and waffle-donut hybrids.
Four decades and over two thousand Yelp reviews later, DK’s remains a stronghold favorite on the west side, a donut destination with pretty much any donut you can dream of. All packaged up in a homey unassuming corner of a strip mall in the auto mall part of Santa Monica.
