Ritual Coffee is yet another third wave coffee business in a city full of them. But that is a part of the credibility. Founded in 2005, the face that the coffee shop has weathered over 15 years and grown in this crowded and competitive landscape means it has substance. The woman-owned brand displays its values in every cup. The beans are sustainably sourced from small farms and producers, paying above fair trade prices. Everything is roasted locally at their roastery in SOMA. The cafes are welcoming and inclusive community spaces for all to enjoy coffee.
In terms of coffee, they have a variety of options, but specialize in lighter roasts from Central and South America. The cafes offer daily brews, pour overs and a fairly standard set of espresso-based options that can be paired with a Valencia pastry.
