larchmont bungalow

not a bungalow and not in larchmont

Let’s get one thing out of the way, Larchmont Bungalow is not in Larchmont. Nor is it a bungalow. Anymore, at least. It once was (illegally) occupying a super cute bungalow in Larchmont Village before it was kicked out back in 2017, after years of battles with the neighborhood. A year later, they popped up in a new mini complex on Sunset in Echo Park. Although the atmosphere is starkly different, their menu stays true to the original favorites.

For what feels like forever, Larchmont Bungalow has been a go-to all day, all week brunch spot, and even in the crowded brunching landscape of east LA, it still is a reliable choice and with a much shorter wait these days than their heyday. Their menu is filled with riffs on classic brunch dishes, and great for sharing (so you don’t have to choose between sweet and savory because you know you’ll want both).

good to know

Go here for: breakfast any time of day, a nice outdoor brunch

Order this: red and blue velvet pancakes, pretty much anything on the breakfast menu

Amount of time to spend: 1-2 hours, general brunch times

When to come: weekdays are pretty chill, on weekends avoid peak brunch hours

Parking: usually isn’t bad, they have a small lot that you can park in. On the weekends, you may need to find street parking though.

Other things to note:

  • They have a decent amount of outdoor seating.
  • It’s more of a sit-down place, but they also do to-go at the counter.
