The coffee-drinking western world needs more eastern tea houses. Steep is a wonderfully contemporary yet authentic Taiwanese tea experience. As in, you sit in a well-curated aesthetically muted space, waiting for your water to boil to the perfect temperature in a beautifully minimalist Fellow electric gooseneck kettle, and brew your loose leaf tea in traditional clay tea pots and sip from delicate tea cups. Like your cool cousin took over your uncle’s coffee table tea set.
Founded in 2019 by two tea lovers from Chinese and Taiwanese backgrounds, Steep is their vision for a modern tea house, a place for people to slow down and appreciate tea in a bright, airy space. They have a curated selection of Chinese and Taiwanese teas, fresh brewed and cold brewed options, a seasonal light food menu that should not be slept on, and a cute little retail corner featuring products by local artists and pretty tea ware. Tucked away in the corner of a quiet (for now) shopping center with a sunny courtyard, Steep makes for a peaceful escape.
