fan fan doughnuts

small batch doughnuts worth going out of your way for again and again

Fan Fan represents the next wave of artisanal donut culture that is made for food snobs. Or rather, the doughnut branch of the current pastry renaissance. Which is to say, doughnuts handmade in small batches, treated with the skill and finesse of patisserie. Something that is quite the opposite of the traditional neighborhood donut shop – a place where you go for the sake of consistency and comfort. You don’t come to Fan Fan for that, you come for delicious wonder in the form of fried round dough.

The women owned (Latina owned!) business churns out doughnuts that are pretty to look at, with taste to match. Their creative flavors evolve with the seasons. Sure, they have some signature hits (ie mexican cinnamon sugar), which are never a bad choice, but there’s always something exciting in store for every returning visit. With flavors like mango lassi, white coffee, and “La Donna” (raspberry and black currant) and some filled donuts too (guava and cheese), it’s easy to see why people will venture to Bed Stuy just to stop by. They also have coffee, tea, soft serve, milkshakes, hot chocolate, and in the fall apple cider, truly a well-rounded line up.
