super domestic

idk about domestic but it is super cute

Super Domestic used to be a routine stop. Weekend mornings started at the gym, followed by a coffee pick up on the way home. I was lucky enough to have Super Domestic on the way home so their cold brew was a regular rotation. Fast forward a few years later and they have two locations, including a very cute extra plant-filled one on the eastern end of Culver. Part coffee shop, part cycle shop, this is a shop that is community oriented and that knows its audience of LA adults who just want good coffee and have a mildly active lifestyle.

Opened in 2018 by a husband-wife duo who love cycling, the cafe is named after a French cycling term, meaning a cycling team member who will do anything it takes to help their leader win. The cafe’s menu is filled with drinks named after awards of the Tour de France, a pretty comprehensive selection of coffee and tea drinks that range from traditional to quite original. With the two locations, Super Domestic makes for an ideal neighborhood coffee shop for anyone in Culver City.

good to know

Go here for: a quick coffee or tea fix, breakfast to go

Order this: the cold brew, the new orleans for a sweeter iced choice, a vanilla bourbon latte for a decadent choice

Amount of time to spend: the Culver location doesn’t have much seating besides some benches, so better for a quick takeaway stop, the Washington location has some outdoor tables that is nice enough to hang for an hour or two

When to come: any time you need a little pick me up

Parking: both locations are street parking only, but it’s usually not too hard to snag a meter within a block

Other things to note:

  • They have plenty of nondairy options for milk (oat, almond, coconut, soy, hemp, pistachio, macadamia) so yeah, it passes the Angeleno test.
  • The Culver Arts District location has more food options (toasts, burritos, etc) – the downtown location just does bagels.
  • They also have a sister location, a more surf themed Mañana Coffee on the west side.
