terms of endearment

your neighborhood vegan bakery that does it right

2024 Update: Terms of Endearment had a sudden shutter in the spring.

Terms of Endearment is a Williamsburg neighborhood cafe/bakery mainstay that just happens to be vegan. It looks like a classic charming cafe, with warm light and homey accents. Not trying to be fancy or vibey, it has that almost European air of simple bistro furnishings in an industrial chic space with gold-painted high ceilings, subway tile and ample plants. The ordering station is right in front of the entrance with a two tiered pastry case followed by a counter that stretches down one side of the space.

Plant-based feels less of a constraint as it does a canvas. It hardly hinders the wide variety of pastries stocked in the case. From well-layered croissants to vegan BECs to a quiche, they maintain a good balance of sweet and savory pastry options that rotate to feature seasonal produce and flavors. Breakfast and lunch options follow traditional cafe fare, with lots of sandwich options that can be paired with tomato soup or mac and cheese. With some tables out on the sidewalk and situated on a relatively quiet block of Metropolitan Ave, it makes for a delightful stop on a sunny day.
