juliet

some parisian chic in LA

Culver City is unrecognizable these days. It’s like every month there’s a new construction popping up, new restaurants and cafes cycling through. Hell, there’s even an Erewhon in downtown Culver now. And the Platform, a commercial hub ahead of its time, seems to be thriving now, expanding to be all but connected to the growing downtown commercial and transportation hubs. One of such new additions to the neighborhood is Juliet, a beautiful and delightful all-day French restaurant from the same folks behind Margot over at the Platform.

Juliet is pitched as a modern Parisian restaurant. And it more than delivers. The ambiance alone transports you from the suburban vibes of Culver City to a classy and elegant European space. The indoor-outdoor space flows together beautifully, and it makes the most of LA weather (one area that definitely gives it a leg up from Paris). The menu draws from French culinary tradition brought to life through local ingredients in a contemporary way that feels as Californian as it does Parisian. Round it out with all day service and a comprehensive drinks program and it makes for an easy neighborhood favorite that feels welcoming enough to be a casual lunch or breakfast but can also make for a nice special occasion dinner.

good to know

Go here for: a business lunch, a group dinner, an upscale day drink, a nice indoor outdoor event venue

Order this: you can’t go wrong with a classic french omelette; the tarama (whipped cod) and mousse au foie de volaille (chicken liver mousse) are nice starters and brown butter madeleines are a delightful way to end a meal, also the crepes suzette for breakfast because why not start your day off strong

Amount of time to spend: an hour or so for a leisurely breakfast or lunch, easily longer for a dinner and drinks

When to come: whenever you feel like pretending you’re in France (which is essentially always), weekdays tend to be fairly quiet

Parking: is not fun in these parts, especially with all the new businesses popping up. You can try your luck with meters or if you don’t mind a walk park at Ivy Station. Or, they have an adjacent valet parking garage.

Other things to note: Reservations available via Resy
