the vintage americana dishes you don’t even know you want
We are living in peak consumerism. Where beyond all the mass retail and DTC brands popping up, even the shoppy shops (which we still love and adore) are starting to blend together. So it is in a way, refreshing, to pop into a shop that has a hyper-specific theme and commits to it. And Fish’s Eddy is exactly that. The charm of a store that sells vintage American tableware that verges on camp.
Entering the store transports you from the middle of Manhattan to what could very well be middle America, a couple decades back. There’s warmth in the organized mess. Dishes piled high on the floor, bins filled with mismatched cups and saucers, a wall of containers. Signs laced with punny humor. And art, kitschy local New York themed art to round out the experience. It doesn’t matter if you’re in the market for new (or old) dishes or if this is not your aesthetic, Fish’s Eddy is the kind of place you should always pop into if you’re in the area.
